Synopsis

The Servant (1963) is a British psychological drama directed by Joseph Losey — watch it online on iFILM. Dirk Bogarde and James Fox face off in one of cinema's most controlled studies of class and power, where the line between master and servant quietly dissolves.

Young London dandy Tony hires the impeccably mannered Barrett as his manservant. Order, comfort, routine — Barrett handles everything without being asked. Then a woman arrives, introduced as his sister, and the household dynamics begin to invert in ways Tony never sees coming. Losey films it all with surgical calm: no cheap shocks, just rooms that feel subtly wrong and conversations where every pause lands like a blade.

Harold Pinter wrote the screenplay — the silences do as much work as the words. The film earned three BAFTA nominations and remains a cornerstone of 1960s British cinema. Stream The Servant (1963) on iFILM.
