Synopsis
Ro.Go.Pa.G. (1963) is a four-part anthology film you can watch online on iFILM. The odd title stitches together the surnames of its directors: Rossellini, Godard, Pasolini and Gregoretti.
Each segment circles the same dark joke — the ways modern life nudges the world toward its own end, with every author answering in his own register. Rossellini follows a flight attendant fending off a smug suitor, Godard imagines a couple surviving a nuclear blast, Gregoretti skewers consumer culture. The lightning rod is Pasolini's La ricotta, where an extra on the set of a Passion film eats himself to death while Orson Welles plays the director.
That episode dragged Pasolini into court: Italian authorities read it as an insult to religion and handed him four months, a sentence later thrown out on appeal. Watched now, the film is a snapshot of early-1960s European cinema where the French New Wave brushed up against Italian neorealism. Worth your time if you're working through Pasolini and Godard and don't mind sharp-edged satire. Stream Ro.Go.Pa.G. (1963) online on iFILM.
