Synopsis
Tarzan and the Amazons (1945) is Kurt Neumann's jungle adventure, ready to watch online on iFILM. Johnny Weissmuller straps on the loincloth for the sixth time as the ape man, with Jane (Brenda Joyce), young Boy and Cheeta the chimp never far behind.
On the way to meet Jane, the group rescues a wounded stranger, and the trail leads to a hidden mountain kingdom barred to men. Tarzan once swore to its queen that he'd keep the location of this golden land secret, so he flatly refuses to guide a band of treasure-hunting archaeologists there. Boy, too trusting for his own good, sneaks them up the mountain anyway. The outsiders' greed sets a chain of disasters in motion.
This RKO production is a tidy example of the 1940s adventure serial: 76 minutes of jungle, traps and rescues with nothing padding the runtime. One nice footnote — the Amazon queen is played by Maria Ouspenskaya, an actress trained in pre-revolutionary Russia. Stream Tarzan and the Amazons (1945) online on iFILM.
