Synopsis
Take This Waltz (2011) is a Canadian-French drama you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Sarah Polley. Michelle Williams plays Margot, a 28-year-old writer in a comfortable Toronto marriage to Lou (Seth Rogen), a cheerful cookbook author who is always, endlessly, making chicken.
Then Margot meets Daniel (Luke Kirby) on a work trip — a rickshaw driver and artist who, it turns out, lives directly across the street. What follows is a Toronto summer of loaded glances, late-night swims, and the particular static of a feeling not yet acted on. Lou isn't a bad husband. That's almost the point.
Polley's script refuses easy exits: there's no villain, and the allure of new love gets examined with the same clear eye as the comfort being left behind. The film works because it shows what comes after the choice — and that's not something most romantic dramas bother with. Sarah Silverman appears in a key supporting role.
