Synopsis

Autumn 1939. Sixteen-year-old Brendan Behan crosses from Dublin to Liverpool carrying explosives for the IRA. He's caught within hours. Rather than adult prison, he's sent to a reform institution for young offenders in East Anglia. He plans to escape, refuses to find anything likeable about England, holds his distance. Then the walls start working on him in ways he hadn't accounted for: the anger loosens, a friendship with a young man named Charlie Milwall forms, and the line between enemy and human gets harder to hold.
