Synopsis

The Deep End (2001) is a cold, controlled thriller you can watch online on iFILM, led by Tilda Swinton. With her husband away for work, Margaret Hall runs the family's lakeside home alone — until she finds a dead body on the shore one morning.

The dead man was her teenage son's older lover. Rather than call the police, Margaret hides the corpse and tries to erase the whole night, certain she is shielding her boy. Then a blackmailer named Alek (Goran Visnjic) shows up with a tape and a price. She doesn't have the money, the days stack up, and one quiet lie keeps demanding another.

Directors Scott McGehee and David Siegel adapt Elisabeth Sanxay Holding's novel into a precise neo-noir that rests almost entirely on Swinton's face — she plays maternal love as something perilously close to madness. Watch The Deep End online on iFILM.
