Metalocalypse (2006) is Adult Swim's animated death-metal comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Creator Brendon Small built the show around Dethklok — a fictional band so massively popular that governments track their every move and fans die at their concerts with alarming regularity. Nobody seems particularly bothered.

The five band members are rich beyond reason, clueless about daily life, and genuinely dangerous to everyone around them. A shadowy council of world leaders monitors Dethklok as a national security threat while the band debates the finer points of making coffee and whether pants are strictly necessary. Mark Hamill and Malcolm McDowell lend their voices, and real metal legends — James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Gene Hoglan — show up as themselves.

What makes the show work is that the metal is real. Brendon Small wrote and performed all the music, and Dethklok released actual albums that charted.
