Synopsis
Fanfan la Tulipe (2003) is a French adventure comedy directed by Gérard Krawczyk — watch online on iFILM. Penélope Cruz and Vincent Perez lead this remake of the beloved 1952 swashbuckler about a reckless young charmer who enlists in the army of Louis XV to dodge an unwanted marriage.
Fanfan gets talked into service by a sergeant's daughter who promises him glory and the hand of the king's daughter. Pure con — but before he can think it through, he's already pulled Madame de Pompadour and a real princess out of a bandit ambush. The prophecy is technically coming true, just not in the order anyone planned. What follows is a string of absurd battlefield schemes, palace conspiracies and near-escapes driven entirely by the hero's refusal to take anything seriously.
