Young Adam

Young Adam (2003) is a cold, skin-close British noir you can watch online on iFILM. Director David Mackenzie drops Ewan McGregor into the industrial waterways of 1950s Scotland as Joe, a drifter crewing a coal barge that runs between Glasgow and Edinburgh with owner Les (Peter Mullan) and his wife Ella (Tilda Swinton).

When Joe and Les pull a woman's body from the canal, the police start digging. Joe says nothing — he knew her. He was with her. What exactly happened stays murky, by design. Between flashbacks, he starts an affair with Ella, and the whole enclosed world of the barge becomes one long slow pressure cooker.
