Synopsis
The Red Inn (L'Auberge rouge, 2007) is a pitch-black French comedy from Gérard Krawczyk you can watch online on iFILM. High in the Pyrenees sits an inn that travelers check into but never leave.
The owners make ends meet by poisoning their guests, taking their money, and burying them out back. Then a band of pilgrims and their monk (Christian Clavier) ask for a room. The landlady (Josiane Balasko), sick with guilt, kneels for confession and tells him everything. Now the priest is trapped — bound to save the travelers, forbidden to break the seal of the confessional. It is going to be a long night.
Krawczyk remade Claude Autant-Lara's 1951 classic and stacked it with French comedy regulars — Clavier, Balasko, Gérard Jugnot. The humor runs cruel: the thing you keep laughing at is, plainly, a string of murders. Stream The Red Inn (2007) online on iFILM.
