Synopsis
Amazing Stories (1985–1987) is Steven Spielberg's NBC anthology series you can watch online on iFILM — two seasons, forty-four self-contained episodes spanning science fiction, fantasy and horror, each one directed by a different filmmaker.
That director roster is the real draw. Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, Robert Zemeckis, Joe Dante and Tobe Hooper all took episodes, which means the tonal range is enormous: one week you get a gentle family fable, the next something genuinely unsettling. The show took its name from the pulp sci-fi magazine that Hugo Gernsback launched back in 1926, and Spielberg pushed NBC for an unusually large per-episode budget to match that legacy.
Seen now, it's a time capsule of mid-1980s genre filmmaking — the era's optimism, its practical effects, its appetite for the weird.
