Clooney plays Jay as a man fluent in his own myth but bewildered by the actual person underneath it. Sandler's Ron is the opposite — someone who has watched the star up close long enough to see past all of it. Laura Dern, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup and Isla Fisher round out a deep ensemble cast.
