Synopsis
Silent Fall (1994), directed by Bruce Beresford, is a psychological crime thriller available to watch online on iFILM. Richard Dreyfuss plays Jake Rainer, a child psychologist who reluctantly comes out of retirement when the sole witness to a double murder turns out to be Tim Warden — nine years old, autistic, and entirely unreachable in the conventional sense.
Beresford builds the film around the patience the case demands. Rainer gets pieces of the Warden family's story through Tim's teenage sister Sylvie, played by Liv Tyler in one of her earliest film roles. John Lithgow brings a harder edge as a rival psychiatrist with more than a professional interest in how the investigation is conducted. J.T. Walsh and Linda Hamilton round out the cast.
