Synopsis
Ladies in Black (2018) is an Australian comedy-drama directed by Bruce Beresford — watch it online on iFILM. Adapted from Madeleine St John's novel, the film is set in a Sydney department store in 1959, and it's mostly about the women who work there and what they actually want from life.
Lisa (Angourie Rice) just finished school and has her eye on university; for now she's selling dresses. Magda (Julia Ormond) is a European immigrant who arrived with different ideas about style and freedom than the Sydney suburbs were used to. Rachel Taylor and Vincent Perez round out a cast that makes the most of a story built from small moments rather than big ones.
