Synopsis

Matsuri Takabayashi is told an incurable illness leaves her roughly a decade. Her answer is to stop wanting things — no plans, no falling for anyone, less to lose that way. Then Kazuto Manabe turns up at a school reunion and the rule she set for herself stops holding. Nana Komatsu plays her with a guardedness that slowly cracks open.
Fujii keeps the camera on small things — meals, train windows, the pause before someone answers. The source novel was finished by a writer who was herself dying, and the film carries that weight without milking it. Good for viewers who want a quiet, unsentimental drama that earns its tears.
