Synopsis
All Things Fair (Lust och fägring stor, 1995) is a Swedish-Danish war drama you can watch online on iFILM. Set in Malmö during 1943, fifteen-year-old Stig falls for his schoolteacher Viola — she is 37, married, and quietly desperate. Director Bo Widerberg cast his own son Johan in the lead role.
Marika Lagercrantz plays Viola with unsettling clarity. Her husband Kjell, portrayed by Tomas von Brömssen, drinks and cheats, leaving her starved of any real warmth. Stig fills that gap — and the two are pulled toward each other despite every reason not to be. Widerberg keeps the wartime backdrop deliberately unglamorous: rationed lives, cramped flats, and the particular sadness of occupied Scandinavia seeping through every frame. The film runs 125 minutes and never softens what it shows.
