Terror in Resonance (Season 1)

Terror in Resonance (Zankyou no Terror, 2014) is a Japanese crime anime you can watch online on iFILM. One summer day a Tokyo building goes up in flames, and the only lead the police get is a cryptic clip posted to the internet. They have no idea where to start.

The bombers are two teenagers, Nine and Twelve, who taunt the authorities under the alias "Sphinx." Each attack comes wrapped in a riddle, and the city has minutes to solve it before the next blast. A lonely high-schooler named Lisa gets pulled into their orbit, while a sidelined detective, Shibazaki, is the one cop who reads the puzzles as a message rather than noise. Behind the boys' dangerous game sits a buried secret the country would rather forget.

Director Shinichiro Watanabe, who made Cowboy Bebop, keeps this to eleven quiet, sun-bleached episodes scored by Yoko Kanno.
