The Moon Embracing the Sun (Season 1)
Don't come close! But don't go far...
Synopsis
The Moon Embracing the Sun (해를 품은 달, 2012) is a South Korean historical fantasy series from KBS2 that you can watch online on iFILM. Kim Soo-hyun plays the young king Lee Hwon, who once loved a nobleman's daughter named Yeon-woo — until a palace conspiracy had her declared dead. She survived, but lost her memory and now lives as a shaman called Wol.
Years pass. Lee Hwon grows into a solitary, guarded ruler who never quite moved on. When Wol is called to court for a ritual, the king feels something pull at him — a recognition he can't name and can't explain. The mystery of who she really is sits at the center of all 20 episodes, threaded through court intrigue and quiet, aching romance in equal measure.
The series is adapted from Jeong Eun-gwol's best-selling novel and broke rating records on KBS2 during its original run. Yeo Jin-goo, now a well-known actor, plays the young Lee Hwon in flashback scenes — the casting of both ages holds together convincingly. If you want a fantasy drama where the plot has real stakes, not just atmosphere, this one delivers. Stream all episodes of The Moon Embracing the Sun online on iFILM.
