Smash (Seasons 1–2)

Smash (2012) is NBC's musical drama series — stream it online on iFILM. The show follows the creation of a Broadway musical about Marilyn Monroe from the first pitch to opening night, tracking writers, director, producers and above all two actresses fighting for the lead: Karen (Katharine McPhee), the fresh-faced newcomer, and Ivy (Megan Hilty), the understudy who has waited too long. Anjelica Huston plays the producer who'll burn anything to get the show made.

Two seasons ran from 2012 to 2013, with original numbers composed by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman — which means even when the drama drags, the music holds. Leslie Odom Jr. turns up in season one, years before Hamilton. Watch all episodes of Smash online on iFILM.
