Synopsis
The Swimmer (1968) is an American drama directed by Frank Perry — watch it online on iFILM. Burt Lancaster plays Ned Merrill, a well-groomed suburbanite who decides one sunny afternoon to swim home across every pool in the neighbourhood, hopping from yard to yard along what he calls "the Lucinda River."
Each stop peels back another layer. Old friends turn cold. A former lover won't meet his eyes. The world Ned thought he owned seems to have quietly moved on without him. Perry and Lancaster turn a John Cheever short story into something stranger and darker — a portrait of a man who has built his life on a lie so comfortable he forgot it was one.
