Synopsis
Einstein and the Bomb (2024) is a docudrama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Anthony Philipson and built almost entirely from the physicist's own letters, speeches and archival footage.
It picks up after Einstein has fled Hitler's Germany and is rebuilding a quiet life in the English countryside. Aidan McArdle plays him not as a poster icon but as a worn, haunted man circling one decision: the 1939 letter to Franklin Roosevelt that helped push the United States toward the atomic bomb. Once Hiroshima happens, that signature becomes a private verdict he carries to the end.
Because the dialogue is drawn from things Einstein actually wrote and said, the film reads less like a lecture and more like a confession stitched into period newsreel. It's a thoughtful pick for anyone who likes smart nonfiction about science and conscience. Stream Einstein and the Bomb (2024) online on iFILM.
