Synopsis
Tyson (2008) is the James Toback documentary you can watch online on iFILM — a boxing portrait built almost entirely from one voice, Mike Tyson's own.
Brooklyn's Brownsville, a childhood of street fights and arrests, then the gym of old trainer Cus D'Amato, who shaped a troubled kid into the youngest heavyweight champion in history. After that come the money, Robin Givens, Don King, prison, and the night he bit off part of Evander Holyfield's ear. Toback cuts Tyson's confessions against footage of his bouts and splits the frame into several Tysons at once, building a man who neither believes nor spares himself.
It screened at Cannes in 2008 — a rare time a fighting legend talks with no publicist and no alibi. Not a polished biopic but a raw, stumbling monologue, uncomfortable in the best way. Stream Tyson (2008) online on iFILM.
