Synopsis
Sheena (1984) is John Guillermin's adventure film, out to watch online on iFILM. It plays out across the African plains and follows a blonde warrior raised by the tribe that took her in as a child.
Sheena's parents (Tanya Roberts plays the grown heroine) died on an expedition, and a tribal shaman raised the orphan, passing on a rare gift: she can speak to animals and call them to her side. When her foster mother is framed for a political assassination, Sheena and a visiting American reporter, Vic Casey, flee the mercenaries working for the real killer. Against rifles and helicopters she has a bow, elephants, rhinos and a knowledge of the bush no outsider can match.
It's shot on the big, earnest scale of the eighties — Kenyan locations, real stunts, not a trace of irony about its own pulp roots. The kind of movie that has aged into charming retro exotica; watch it for Tanya Roberts, the landscapes and the spirit of old Saturday-matinee adventure. Stream Sheena (1984) online on iFILM.
