Synopsis
September Dawn (2007) is a historical western-drama directed by Christopher Cain, available to watch online on iFILM. Utah, fall of 1857: a wagon train of Arkansas settlers crosses through Mormon territory and walks into a confrontation historians classify as one of the deadliest episodes on the American frontier. Jon Voight, Terence Stamp and Dean Cain lead the cast.
At the center is a forbidden connection — a young Mormon man (Trent Ford) and a woman from the wagon train (Tamara Hope) who find each other just as their communities spiral toward violence. What happened at Mountain Meadows on September 11 of that year was buried by Utah for well over a century. Cain presses on the theology behind the killing without turning the film into a pamphlet.
