Synopsis
Nathalie... (2003) is a French psychological drama from director Anne Fontaine, available to watch online on iFILM. Paris doctor Catherine suspects her husband Bernard of an affair, so she hires a call girl to seduce him and report back on every encounter.
The woman she hires goes by Nathalie. She meets Bernard, then lays out each rendezvous for Catherine in slow, exact detail — and those debriefs slowly turn into something neither wife nor stranger expected. Fanny Ardant plays the composed, watchful Catherine; Emmanuelle Béart is Nathalie; Gérard Depardieu is the husband we barely glimpse. The closer the two women get, the harder it is to tell surveillance from desire.
Fontaine isn't after a cheating thriller. This is a quiet, talky chamber piece about trust, jealousy and how easily you can invent another person's life from secondhand stories.
