Synopsis
My Worst Nightmare (Mon pire cauchemar, 2011) is a French-Belgian comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Anne Fontaine. Isabelle Huppert plays Agathe, a composed Parisian who runs a prestigious contemporary art foundation, married to a publisher, her life arranged with the precision of a well-hung exhibition.
Then Patrick arrives — played by Benoît Poelvoorde — living out of a van with his son, working odd jobs, blissfully free of social filters. Their children become inseparable. Agathe cannot make him disappear. André Dussollier rounds out the triangle as her husband, whose calm exterior starts to show its own cracks.
Fontaine keeps the film from tipping into farce by making both leads equally wrong about each other — Huppert's deadpan control against Poelvoorde's total lack of it produces a comedy that's genuinely sharp rather than just broad. Stream My Worst Nightmare (2011) on iFILM.
