Overlord

Overlord (1975) is a British war drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Stuart Cooper. A young Englishman named Tom is called up, and through the grind of basic training a quiet dread settles in: he doubts he will survive the Normandy landings.

There is no battlefield spectacle here. It follows an ordinary lad saying goodbye to home, drilling with his unit, and marching toward June 6th, 1944. Cooper wove real Imperial War Museum footage into the staged scenes until the line between drama and document nearly vanishes. Brian Stirner plays Tom plainly, with no heroics.

Black-and-white and meditative, it reads more like a poem about fate than an action picture. It took the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, then slipped out of circulation for years before coming back as a restored classic. Stream Overlord online on iFILM.
