It opens on a birthday. Abbi turns thirty, so the pair walk Manhattan top to bottom and bump into half the people they've ever known. After that Ilana launches an open-air "workspace" for the city's smokers, cashes out an ancient Bitcoin stash and moonlights as a hair model, while Abbi fights her landlord and tries to climb from sweater-folder to window artist at Anthropologie. Underneath the gags, one quiet question keeps surfacing: what happens when a best friend decides to change her whole life.
