Eliza (Geraldine Viswanathan) just transferred in and actually wants to do the job. Their boss (Buscemi) is meanwhile working on his bowling game and half-hoping they fail.

The show runs as an anthology — the same cast drops into a new time period and genre each season, which keeps it from going stale. Season one plays as absurdist workplace comedy with a theology problem at its core, and that combination lands more consistently than it has any right to.
