Reprise

Reprise (2006) is Joachim Trier's debut feature — a restless, sharply funny Norwegian drama you can watch online on iFILM. Two best friends, Erik and Phillip, mail their first manuscripts to publishers on the same day in Oslo. Erik gets a rejection letter. Phillip becomes a literary sensation overnight.

The spotlight arrives at the same time as a breakdown. Phillip ends up hospitalized, falls into a relationship the doctors warn him against, and tries to crawl back toward the person he was before. Erik, still unpublished, watches from the side — proud, envious, and unsure what he actually wants. Trier cuts between real events and imagined futures, letting the story breathe and skip like a playlist someone keeps rearranging.
