Synopsis
Homunculus (2021) is a Japanese psychological thriller from director Takashi Shimizu, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Susumu Nakoshi, a former insurance man, now sleeps in his car and feels almost nothing.
A medical student named Manabu Ito offers him cash for an experiment: trepanation, a hole drilled into his skull. Afterward, something shifts. Cover his right eye, and his left one sees people warped into strange shapes — their buried fears and wounds made visible. Susumu calls them homunculi. Go Ayano plays the drifter; Ryo Narita is the unsettlingly curious Ito.
It's adapted from Hideo Yamamoto's cult manga, by the author of Ichi the Killer. Shimizu, the man behind Ju-On, trades ghosts for a colder idea — the real horror sits inside other people's heads. Slow, clammy, and built on dread rather than jump scares. Stream Homunculus (2021) online on iFILM.
