Synopsis
Marebito (2004) is a Japanese horror film from Takashi Shimizu you can watch online on iFILM. Freelance cameraman Masuoka is gripped by a single question: what kind of terror drove a man to kill himself on a subway platform right in front of his lens.
Cult director Shinya Tsukamoto plays Masuoka, and the whole film lives inside his viewfinder. Tracing that dying man's fear down into the tunnels beneath Tokyo, he finds a mute, chained girl in the caverns below the city and carries her home. What follows isn't a rescue: she drinks only blood, and the line between documentary footage and hallucination quietly comes apart.
Shimizu shot the film in a matter of days between Ju-On installments, and you can feel it — a murky, near-underground horror with no jump scares, riding entirely on its cameraman's spiraling madness. One for patient fans of slow, psychological J-horror. Stream Marebito (2004) online on iFILM.
