Synopsis
Ju-on: The Curse (呪怨, 2000) is the Japanese horror film you can watch online on iFILM that started it all — directed by Takashi Shimizu, featuring Takako Fuji and a young Chiaki Kuriyama. Before the American remake, before the sequels, this was the original: seventy minutes, one cursed house, and the logic that anyone who enters is already too late.
When a teacher named Kobayashi comes to check on a missing pupil, he crosses into a house that holds something no one should have disturbed. The curse doesn't discriminate and doesn't negotiate. Every person who steps through the door picks it up and carries it somewhere new.
Shimizu builds dread with restraint — sparse sound design, held shots, no music doing the work for him. The result is a film that feels less like a traditional ghost story and more like exposure to something genuinely wrong. It still lands. Stream Ju-on: The Curse (2000) on iFILM.
