Synopsis
"The Man from Hong Kong" (1975) is an Australian-Hong Kong action thriller directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith — watch it online on iFILM. Hong Kong inspector Fang Sing Leng flies to Sydney to question a suspect linked to the local criminal underworld, and the case turns lethal before he can get anything useful out of the man.
The suspect is assassinated. The Sydney police have no leads. Fang — played by Hong Kong martial arts star Jimmy Wang Yu — stops deferring to local procedure and starts working his own angle. The trail leads to a criminal organisation run by the immaculate William Petrie: George Lazenby, who once wore 007's tuxedo, playing the villain here with obvious relish. Sammo Hung appears in a supporting role.
One of the earliest co-productions between Australia and Hong Kong, made well before either territory had carved out a firm place on the international map. Rooftop chases across Sydney, handfight-heavy set pieces, and a distinctly '70s roughness that still holds up. Stream "The Man from Hong Kong" (1975) online on iFILM.
