Synopsis

In the sleepy coastal town of Tropico, nothing happens until Nick is handed an ultimatum: come up with a serious pile of cash in two days, or don't see the third. He and his girlfriend Lissa grab at a scheme floated by Bryce, a wealthy old classmate. The setup looks clean right up until the first move. After that it's a tangle of double-crosses, lies and seduction, where everyone is sure they'll outmaneuver the others — and everyone is wrong.
The script is built like a house of cards: what reads as the opening turns out, by the end, to be a completely different story. Witherspoon plays against her rom-com image here as the most dangerous piece on the board, and she's the reason the thing holds. If you like compact thrillers with a false bottom, this fits.
