Emergency Declaration

Emergency Declaration (비상선언, 2022) is a South Korean disaster thriller directed by Han Jae-rim and available to watch online on iFILM. A flight to Hawaii. One passenger dead mid-air of unknown cause. Then another. On the ground, a detective played by Song Kang-ho already knows it's deliberate — someone brought a biological weapon on board.

Airports begin refusing the flight one by one. Fuel runs low. Lee Byung-hun plays the pilot forced to keep hundreds of people alive without anywhere to land. Jeon Do-yeon plays the government minister trying to negotiate a solution from the ground up. The film runs 140 minutes and keeps both storylines moving.

Director Han Jae-rim built a genuine large-scale thriller here — unusual territory for Korean cinema, and pulled off without borrowing Hollywood shortcuts. The tension is earned through character, not spectacle. Song Kang-ho and Lee Byung-hun are the kind of pairing that justifies the runtime on its own.
