Synopsis
Suncoast (2024) is a coming-of-age dramedy you can watch online on iFILM. Teenager Doris splits her days between a dying brother her mother has just moved into a Florida hospice and the ordinary business of trying to fit in at school.
Writer-director Laura Chinn drew the film straight from her own life. Nico Parker plays Doris, Laura Linney her sharp, grief-frayed mother, and Woody Harrelson an oddball activist picketing that very hospice — the real Terri Schiavo case humming in the background. The unlikely friendship between the girl and the protester is where the story really lives.
It's a film that resists melodrama: death, a first crush and messy teenage parties all share the same frame.
