Kidnapped

A family moves into a new house in a gated Madrid suburb. It is their first night there. Three masked men force their way in. One takes the father to ATMs across the city to drain his accounts. The other two stay with the mother and teenage daughter. The film cuts between both locations as the night gets progressively worse.

Vivas shot the entire film in twelve takes. No cutaways, no editing room pauses for the audience to breathe. The technique makes 81 minutes feel much longer — in the specific way a real bad night would. It is a brutal piece of work, and a technically impressive one.
