Synopsis
True Legend (苏乞儿, 2010) is a Chinese martial-arts fantasy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Yuen Woo-ping — the fight choreographer behind The Matrix, Kill Bill and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Set during the Qing Dynasty, the film follows Su Qi-Er, a decorated general who walks away from military glory, only to have his embittered stepbrother destroy everything he built.
Zhao Wenzhuo carries the lead, and the film's second act puts him through one of cinema's more unusual training sequences: Su, now a broken man living on the streets, learns a new fighting style from spirits and visions. Michelle Yeoh and Jay Chou appear in supporting roles that add weight to the quieter scenes. The film is most alive during its set-piece fights — Yuen Woo-ping's choreography is inventive even by his own standards.
The story follows the rise of a man who becomes a folk hero — the "King of Beggars" — almost by accident. It's unapologetically a spectacle film, built for viewers who want the full wuxia package: betrayal, exile, and a third act that earns its redemption. Stream True Legend (2010) on iFILM.
