Mike (Season 1)

Mike (2022) is a Hulu limited series you can watch online on iFILM, tracing the life of heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson across several decades. Trevante Rhodes plays Tyson from Brooklyn street kid to world champion to convicted felon to ring comeback; Craig Gillespie, who dissected a very different sports scandal in I, Tonya, directs multiple episodes.

The structure is anything but a straight march through dates. Each episode adopts a different point of view, sometimes hostile, sometimes sympathetic — Tyson's own, his trainer Cus D'Amato's, Robin Givens's, the media's. Harvey Keitel appears as promoter Bill Cayton. The opening titles warn upfront that what follows is one version of events, not the authorised one, which is precisely what makes the show so combative and watchable.
