Blue Car

Blue Car (2003) — watch online on iFILM, an American independent drama written and directed by Karen Moncrieff. Agnes Bruckner plays Meg, a teenager who puts everything she cannot say at home into poetry. David Strathairn is Mr. Auster, her English teacher, who decides her work is worth something.

Home is bad: a mother barely keeping it together, a younger sister in serious trouble, a household with no air in it. Auster offers encouragement, then a path to a national poetry contest in Florida. The closer Meg gets to going, the more complicated his role in her life becomes. Moncrieff never labels what is happening — she just shows it accumulating.
