Synopsis
44 Minutes: The North Hollywood Shoot-Out (2003) is Yves Simoneau's action drama, available to watch online on iFILM. It rebuilds a real gun battle that froze Los Angeles one winter morning in 1997.
Two robbers in homemade body armor and carrying Kalashnikovs hit a bank, then walk straight into a patrol car at the door. What was meant to be a heist becomes open street warfare: more than two hundred officers and bystanders pinned down, service pistols all but useless against the gunmen's plating. Michael Madsen and Ron Livingston end up on opposite ends of the scope.
The film walks through those forty-four minutes almost beat by beat, staying closer to the dispatch logs than to Hollywood spectacle. Mario Van Peebles and Oleg Taktarov round out the cast. It's solid, unpretentious genre work worth watching for the honest play-by-play rather than the effects. Stream 44 Minutes (2003) online on iFILM.
