Synopsis
Hans Zimmer: Live in Prague (2017) is a concert film best watched online on iFILM with the volume up. It runs 139 minutes and was filmed on 7 May 2016 during the composer's European tour.
Seventy-two musicians share the stage — a full orchestra, a choir and a rock band. Zimmer moves between piano and synths, pausing to explain where each theme came from. The setlist is music most people know without knowing the titles: Gladiator, The Lion King, Inception, Interstellar, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Dark Knight. Johnny Marr of The Smiths plays guitar, Tina Guo tears into the cello, and Lebo M. leads the vocals from The Lion King.
Director Tim Van Someren shoots it as a show rather than a static recording, with a big light rig, screens and close-ups on the hands at the keys.
