Synopsis

Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii (1972) is a landmark concert film you can watch online on iFILM. Director Adrian Maben brought Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Nick Mason to the ancient Roman amphitheatre in the ruins of Pompeii — and filmed them playing to no audience at all, just lava rock and silence.

The set runs through extended versions of "Echoes", "A Saucerful of Secrets" and "One of These Days", recorded in October 1971 before the band had written a word of The Dark Side of the Moon. Maben also captured early Abbey Road studio footage from those sessions, so the film works as both a concert document and a rare glimpse into the group's creative process. A 2016 remaster sourced from the original 35mm negative, with audio remixed by Steven Wilson, is the definitive version now in circulation.

For a band known for elaborate live productions, the stripped-back setting is what makes this film genuinely surprising — four musicians, their gear, and two-thousand-year-old stone. Stream Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii (1972) online on iFILM.
