Synopsis
Plunkett & Macleane (1999) is a British action-comedy you can watch online on iFILM, set on the muddy roads of 18th-century England. Will Plunkett knows how to crack a lock and outrun the law. James Macleane, a broke ex-gentleman, knows how to get invited into the right drawing rooms. Pooled together, those skills make them outlaws.
Plunkett (Robert Carlyle) and Macleane (Jonny Lee Miller) rob the aristocracy with such flair that London starts whispering about the "Gentlemen Highwaymen." Their weakness is the heart: after holding up one coach, Macleane falls hard for Lady Rebecca, played by Liv Tyler, niece of a powerful judge. Meanwhile a ruthless thief-taker, played by Ken Stott, is closing in. Jake Scott's directorial debut plays like a music video — brash editing, modern songs over wigs and lace, and a cast stacked with Michael Gambon and Alan Cumming. Stylish costume mischief for anyone who finds period dramas a touch too polite. Stream Plunkett & Macleane (1999) online on iFILM.
