Synopsis
American Woman (2018) is a drama directed by Jake Scott, available to watch online on iFILM. Deb Callahan lives in a worn-down Pennsylvania town and became a grandmother before forty. Then her grown daughter Bridget vanishes one night, leaving behind a little boy.
The search leads nowhere, but life refuses to pause. Deb raises her grandson alone, cycling through jobs, men, and versions of herself across more than a decade of story. We watch a reckless young woman harden, by inches, into an adult held upright by nothing but responsibility. Sienna Miller plays the change without a trace of sentiment — her Deb can be sharp, unfair, bone-tired. Christina Hendricks and Aaron Paul round out the tight web of family and neighbors closing in around her.
Scott made a quiet film about grief that never quite lifts and the stubborn endurance of an ordinary working-class woman. There are no big reveals here, only time honestly lived. It's one for viewers who value restrained, performance-driven drama. Stream American Woman online on iFILM.
