Synopsis
"Chinese Coffee" (2000) is a two-man chamber drama you can watch online on iFILM — written, directed, and performed by Al Pacino, with Jerry Orbach as his sparring partner, based on Ira Lewis's stage play.
Harry Levine, an aging Greenwich Village writer freshly fired from his doorman job, shows up at his old friend Jake's apartment. He is ostensibly there to collect a long-standing debt. What actually spills out is harder to name: old resentments, failed expectations, and a slow reckoning over whether a friendship survives when both people finally say what they mean. Pacino and Orbach share the frame for 99 minutes without leaving the room.
Shot in 1993, the film sat unreleased for seven years. It is the opposite of the Pacino most audiences know — no eruptions, no monologues built for clips. A patience-rewarding performance from both leads. Stream "Chinese Coffee" (2000) online on iFILM.
