Synopsis
Nicolas Roeg shot Bad Timing (1980) in Vienna as a psychological thriller you can watch online on iFILM. A young American woman, Milena, is rushed to a clinic after an overdose. Inspector Netusil takes the case and starts questioning her lover, psychology lecturer Alex Linden.
The interrogation slowly reassembles an affair that was poisoned by jealousy from the first night. Alex is older, colder, a man who needs to control everything; Milena is married, impulsive and refuses to be owned. The harder he tries to hold her, the closer they both drift to disaster. Roeg shreds the chronology, cutting past and present together until the viewer becomes the detective. Art Garfunkel and Theresa Russell make a couple that's painful to watch, while Harvey Keitel runs the questioning like a confession.
The distributor once branded it "a sick film made by sick people," and that scandal is exactly what turned it into a cult object. Cold and deeply uncomfortable, it's a study of obsession and control for anyone who likes love shown with the romance stripped clean off. Stream Bad Timing (1980) online on iFILM.
