Blake is a junior doctor desperately seeking validation — from his supervisors, from his patients, from anyone willing to offer it. When 18-year-old Diane arrives with a kidney infection, her uncomplicated case gives him exactly the attention he craves. As she improves, he starts making small interventions to her treatment. Nothing dramatic, nothing visible. Just enough to keep her from leaving.
