Synopsis
Father Brown (2013) is the BBC detective series you can watch online on iFILM. The setting is the early 1950s in Kembleford, a sleepy fictional village in the Cotswolds. The parish priest of St Mary's solves murders not through cold Holmesian deduction but through a deep read of the human soul — he has long understood what a cornered person is capable of.
Mark Williams plays the unassuming cleric in round spectacles and a wide-brimmed hat, forever exasperating the local police, who tend to arrest whoever is nearest while Brown quietly fingers the real culprit. He's after confession rather than conviction, and he'll guard the secret of the confessional even when it lets a killer slip the noose. Helping him are the prickly secretary Mrs McCarthy, society hostess Lady Felicia, her driver Sid, and a spirited niece named Bunty.
Drawn from G. K. Chesterton's short stories, the show has run on the BBC for more than a dozen seasons — proper cosy crime, with a corpse before tea and a moral knot to untie by the end. Perfect for anyone who loves old-fashioned English villages and a puzzle without gore on screen. Stream every season of Father Brown online on iFILM.
